Ping G15 Driver Worth What You Have in 2012 With Lowest Price

As we all know that the Ping is a company who has their own little niche in the golfing world. Ping Golf has released many classical golf clubs ,such as K15 ,G15,G20 and i20 series .which series you like the best ?

The Ping G15 series is pretty much an embodiment of that philosophy and many golfers across the globe are enjoying playing it.

So when the time came to take the best Ping G15 Driver from usa discount for sale out for a spin I knew what to expect. I wasn’t going to be overwhelmed with graphics, bewildered by descriptions of how it can make my game better or (and best of all) a price tag that would stop a sane man in his tracks.

That’s Ping folks, simple is as simple does and it’s almost always the best way in a sport that has been turned into a neo-scientific project by hype, marketing and outlandish claims of distance, so I’ll spare you the techno-psychobabble and stick to how it works.

First Impressions of the Ping G15

It’s a typical G series driver in every respect. It’s a square faced, pear-shaped design with a typically understated black matte crown. The sole is silver and adorned with minimal red and black graphics. It’s neither ugly nor super-pretty but to my eyes, it looked great behind the ball and that’s the most important element in the aesthetics department.

You can get more details of this wholesale G15 driver at bestgolfclubsale.com/USA-454-Ping-G15-Driver.html .

Hitting the Ping G15

So, after inspecting the clubs appearance I eventually teed a ball up and gave it a whack. I had pretty high expectations of what was about to happen. several of my friends play the G15 and they all love it. I’ve seen them hitting more fairways than they used to and maybe gaining a modicum of distance too. although, the distance is most likely a result of their increased confidence rather than some magic dust poured over the clubface. Mind you, in golf confidence is magic dust and we could all use an extra burst from that particular spray gun.

I lined the club up behind the ball and again it did look good, kind of comforting in a way, like it belonged there. The first thing you notice is the sound at impact. It’s neither especially tinny like some models nor totally muted like others but you really know you’ve just swung a piece of titanium at almost 100mph and you’ve done some damage. it felt good too, not harsh or too hard; the face feels as it has a bit of give and it gives you a feeling of power and dynamism, which is always good.

My first ball took off well and what I really noticed was the penetrating flight. I was using the stock Serrano shaft and it felt pretty good. most of my following swings delivered the same results and it would be fair to say that my high expectations had been met by what the G15 delivered. Is it any longer than other drivers? not really, no, but there is something that I noticed as I hit it more and more….it’s massively good on off center strikes, exceptionally good.

Sadly for me, I don’t have to try too hard to make off center contact but after a while and having worked out that the Ping G15 driver in usa cheap for sale rewards a good swing with an accurate and long enough result, I deliberately set up to see how a toe end flub worked. it wasn’t too bad at all. It’s not going to kill you out on the course, put it that way. You’ll be coming in with a club or two more to the green but it won’t be a case of watching a weak, slightly sad looking ball flight coming to rest within throwing distance.

The same can be said for strikes off the heel. mine flew low and right to left but not too hideously and I’d still be able to think about par afterwards.

Review Summary

The Ping G15 is a top class driver. it sits beautifully behind the ball, is as easy to hit as a driver can be and has the bonus of Ping’s legendary build quality behind it. at it’s price point, it’s hard to beat and gives any driver out there a run for it’s money.

It’s easy to see why quite a few of my fellow golfers play it and have no plans to change. you really do get a lot of club for your money with the G15 and it’s a sound option for players at all levels.

University of Notre Dame product Max Scodro, of Scottsdale, shot a final-round 6-under 66 to earn a 3-shot victory in the Arizona Open last week at Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club’s Prospector course.

Scodro, who graduated from Notre Dame just a few weeks ago after being named Big East Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, finished with a three-round total of 15-under 201 and defeated Tucson’s Brandon Smith by 3 strokes.

Jeff Yurkiewicz, of Scottsdale, and Jordan Krantz, of Glendale, tied for third, 7 shots behind Scodro.

Smith made it interesting early in the round, opening with par, birdie, eagle — he holed out from the fairway on his second shot on the 470-yard par-4 third — and birdie to tie for the lead through four holes. Scodro, however, built a cushion starting the 11th hole, making birdie while Smith made bogey. Scodro followed up with a birdie on the difficult 220-yard par-3 12th to create his insurmountable advantage.

Defending champion Braxton Marquez, of Scottsdale, made the cut but never was in contention, finishing at 5-over 221.

Arizona Senior Open

Bob Niger of El Dorado Hills, Calif., rallied with a final-round 66 to win the Arizona Senior Open by 1 shot on June 7 at Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club’s Prospector course.

Scottsdale’s Mike Franco, who missed a 15-foot putt for eagle on the final hole that would have tied him for the lead, shared second with Marana’s Paul Nolen at 9-under 207, just shy of Niger’s 206 total.

Las Vegas’ Brady Exber, who won the event in 2009, was the low amateur for second year in a row, finishing in 10th place at 5-under 211.

Southwestern Amateur

Kevin Dougherty of Murietta, Calif. shot a final round 2-over 74 to claim a 3-stroke victory last week in the 97th Southwestern Amateur at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Dove Mountain in Marana.

The Oklahoma State junior-to-be, who entered the final round with a 4-stroke lead, fought hot temperatures and gusty winds to claim a 3-shot victory over Michael Davan of Hoopston, Ill. Dougherty put together rounds of 69-66-70-74 to claim the prestigious championship over a field of 130 players from 33 states, Mexico and Australia.

The Cal State-Fullerton team of Mark Anguiano of Whittier, Calif. and Scott Rubzin of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. won the two-man Team Challenge event with a best three-round score of 209.

Nicholas Losole III of Scottsdale was the leading Arizona player, finishing 32nd with a 6-over 294 total.

Junior All-Star

Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Paula Creamer and Grace Park are among an impressive group of PGA and LPGA superstars who competed in AJGA Junior-Ams as teenagers. More than 160 former AGJA Juniors are playing on the PGA and LPGA tours and have accumulated more than 300 wins.

That next group of budding stars will be competing in the 2012 Junior All-Star at Gainey Ranch on Monday-Thursday. More than seventy of these up and coming athletes will be teamed with amateurs for the three days of competition.

This year, members of the public can team with a junior golfer by registering to play in this year’s event. Funds raised from participating in the Junior-Am go directly to junior golf.

Rough at U.S. Open at Olympic not what it once was

June 30, 2012 by

SAN FRANCISCO — Hear that? no? Me neither. Like the dog that didn’t bark in the night, the pros have had little to say so far about the rough on the Olympic Club’s Lake course. “I remember the rough being more of a ‘chip-out’ rough in ’98,” said a smiling Matt Kuchar, who was an amateur with a full head of hair when he first encountered U.S. Open-style rough on the shores of Lake Merced. “the rough is spotty,” echoed a smiling Steve Stricker, who finished T5 in ’98. “It’s up in some places and down in others.” What’s the emoticon for “gobsmacked”? Pros NEVER equivocate about U.S. Open rough. They come back from a practice round claiming to have lost five balls, a 7-iron and a caddie. They accuse the greenskeeper of injecting roots with Miracle-Gro. They say it’s the thickest rough in the history of the game. (See Bethpage 2009, Oakmont 2007, Oak Hill 1989, Oakland Hills 1951, ad infinitum.) Not this week. the ancient pros — the pensioners who are well past their Champions Tour days — are especially dismissive of the Lake Course’s relative hirsuteness. “we didn’t have any days like this in ’66, days where the moisture is out of the rough,” said 80-year-old Billy Casper, who won that year in an 18-hole playoff with Arnold Palmer. “we had the moisture in the rough every day because we had overcast days. and you had to be very careful what club you selected out of the rough, as with Arnold at 16 when he tried to hit a long iron after hitting a bad pull hook that hit a tree and bounced down into an area where nobody had been. He gambled with a long iron, and he only moved it 50 or 60 yards into another set of rough that was extremely heavy.” Well, you get the idea. that '66 rough was BAAAAAAD. but it was nothing compared to the chlorophyll factory that covered the Lake course the week of the 1955 U.S. Open, won by Jack Fleck. “the guys I talked to said 1955 was the worst rough they’d ever seen,” saidys Neil Sagebiel, a fellow I met 20 minutes ago in the back of the media tent. “it was this Italian rye that was shin deep just five or six yards off the fairway. and it held the moisture.” Sagebiel is too young by decades to have witnessed Fleck’s upset of the great Ben Hogan, but he’s the author of The Longest Shot: Jack Fleck, Ben Hogan, and Pro Golf’s Greatest Upset at the 1955 U.S. Open. so he’s an authority. and Sagebiel says you could have lost a process server in the ’55 rough. “I don’t think they had cut it for a month before the tournament,” Sagebiel continued. “Players always complain about the Open setup, but Porky Oliver played six holes on the previous Sunday and lost 12  balls. it was so bad that the USGA’s Joe Dey had the rough trimmed a couple of inches before the tournament.” that left Mickey Rooney visible from the waist up, but it didn’t do much for the golfers. “Hogan was one back when he pulled his drive into the rough on the last hole of the playoff,” Sagebiel pretended to recall. “People lined the fairway on both sides, but they had trouble finding his ball. That’s how thick it was.” no, here’s how thick it was: it took Hogan three swings to get back to the fairway. “it was too hard, really,” said Sagebiel, nicely understating the moral of his story. Nearly six decades have passed, so you may be wondering what relevance the ’55 rough has to this week’s rough. Answer: none. but U.S. Open rough is always relevant to the poor saps who wind up in it. so I marched out Tuesday afternoon and took some scientific measurements with a delicate instrument I carry to all the major championships: a Marriott pen. I found the Lake course rough to be as Stricker described it: Spotty. the cuts bordering the fairways are inconsequential, but the graduated cuts up to the gallery ropes are lush and clumpy. and when I say clumpy, I mean growing in dense tufts that lean every which way. I measured patches no more than two inches deep (up to the letter ‘t’ in ‘Resorts’) right next to straight-standing grass that swallowed the entire pen before it hit bottom. that explains the paucity of “worst rough ever” quotes. There are plenty of miserable lies, but there are just as many sigh-of-relief lies that don’t require a full-swing-sideways wedge to the fairway. Which could, perversely, lead to “flier” lies — the kind that leave a player gaping in horror as his ball soars over the green and into a grandstand. “the thick stuff I find a little more manageable,” Kuchar admitted. “you kind of just make a big explosion out of it.” but you can’t make a big deal out of it. Not this year. It’s kind of sad when the pros don’t have something to whine about, don’t you think?

Vegas and Scott put money on Tiger Woods to win the Masters

With Tiger Woods rolling into Augusta with his first official PGA Tour event in more than two years fresh on his mind, it’s not exactly staggering that Las Vegas oddsmakers believe the former No. 1 is the guy to beat this week. what may be a tad more surprising was how quick some of his fellow competitors were to anoint Woods the favorite to shrug into a green jacket (his fifth) at the close of the proceedings come Sunday night.

“I think certainly Tiger has got to be in the mix,” Adam Scott, who has Woods ex-caddie Steve Williams on his bag, told reporters Monday about where he might put a “spare 20 dollars” — other than on himself. “He’s playing well, and he’s won four times here. he knows what he’s doing.”

Tiger Woods teams up with Golfsmith in this amusing national promo offering fans a chance to tee it up with the 14-time major champ

Jason Day, Scott’s Australian countryman and co-runner-up to Charl Schwartzel’s winning score last year at Augusta, was similarly impressed with Woods’ Masters’ chances — especially after his convincing five-stroke victory over Graeme McDowell a little over a week ago at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

“Tiger has dominated the game of golf for a long, long time, so it was just only a matter of time,” Day said of Woods’ 13-under finish at Bay Hill. “And I could just see it in his eyes that he was going to do it, and that’s just how it is.”

Day likened the eye of the Tiger to the demeanor Rory McIlroy projected during his record-breaking romp to last year’s U.S. Open title.

“I just knew he was going to win, because it just looked different….For Rory last year, it looked like he was playing a Wednesday [round] against the best players in the world, which was just amazing. he just looked so comfortable,” said Day, who came in solo second at Congressional Country Club when McIlroy dismantled the field in an eight-shot triumph. “It just seemed like Tiger, he was comfortable, but he had that look in his eye that he was going to do it pretty soon, and it happened.”

For the record, Bovada Sportsbook has made Woods a 4/1 favorite to win his fifth Masters. McIlroy was not far behind, at 5/1 odds, and Phil Mickelson — who knows a bit about winning at Augusta himself — rounded out the top three with chances of 11/1.

The odds for the rest of the top 10 were as follows:

  • Luke Donald — World No. 1 (16/1)
  • Lee Westwood — No. 3 (16/1)
  • Hunter Mahan — a two time winner this season after capturing the Houston Open on Sunday (28/1)
  • Justin Rose — 2012 WGC-Cadillac Championship winner (33/1)
  • Scott — an eight-time tour winner (33/1)
  • Keegan Bradley — Reigning PGA champ (33/1)
  • Schwartzel — Defending Masters champion (33/1)

Oh, and as for that so-called “mystique” that Woods used to have but lost somewhere around Hazeltine, when Y.E. Yang pulled a stunning upset at the 2009 PGA Championship? Well, Day (who comes in at 40/1 with Steve Stricker, Bubba Watson, Dustin Johnson, and Nick Watney) believes it — along with Woods’ game — has returned.

“It’s Tiger: 14 majors, he can get that back in a heartbeat, especially around here with the crowds,” he said. “They are on his side, and if he’s playing good, you’ll definitely hear it.

“And that,” Day conceded, “is kind of chilling if you do hear that.”

Tiger Woods week at the Masters. Tiger, by the way, is everywhere this Masters week — and he’s looking for some playing partners. in one promo — for which Woods filmed an amusing national commercial — Golfsmith and Tiger have teamed up to give one lucky winner and three friends the chance to tee it up with the 14-time major champ.

Any consumer who visits a Golfsmith store and tests the Nike VR_S line of clubs is eligible to win a trip to Jupiter, Fla., for nine holes of golf with Woods. Each member of the foursome would also receive a full set of VR_S clubs. Click here for more info. You have through may 15 to enter.

Concluding on may 14 is another contest in which Woods will match every dollar raised in a Facebook fundraising campaign to benefit the Earl Woods Scholarship Program. Woods will invite the person bringing in the most money to send 10 deserving students to college to play in the AT&T National pro-am at Congressional in Bethesday, Md., on June 27. The most active fundraiser will also receive a private putting lesson with Woods and the invitation includes airfare and accommodations. go to Woods’ Facebook page for details.

And finally, Woods and his sponsor, Fuse Science, are celebrating the golfer’s Bay Hill win by giving away a Tiger Woods-autographed Fuse Science golf bag. You have until April 8 to enter the Powered-by-Fuse golf-bag giveaway.

Coaching Division I basketball is Newman’s hunger game

June 30, 2012 by

FULLERTON – Basketball was the means and Andy Newman had found the end.

He had followed the bouncing ball to Chico State, West Valley JC, Southern Utah and Azusa Pacific, and now he was an accountant.

He went back home to the Silicon Valley, forests of money sprouting around him.

“I was going to go make a million dollars,” Newman said.

That was 14 years ago. Today, Newman is the interim basketball coach at Cal State Fullerton. just 344 men are in charge of men’s Division I basketball programs, so Newman has profoundly succeeded.

But he isn’t a millionaire, primarily because he listened to voices inside his soul and ignored all the other ones.

Newman got a job at Hitachi Data Systems and was making $50,000 a year. “You could throw a dart at a stock back then, and it would double,” he said. “Yahoo was just starting. one of my high school friends was the ninth employee at Yahoo.”

He laughed. “I’m trying to get him to donate a little bit to our program.”

From Monday to Friday, Newman performed data entry, worked with spreadsheets, and kept looking at his watch and the calendar.

He would spend his weekends playing basketball at the Decathlon Club. Eventually he was daydreaming about Saturday on Monday.

“I had to get out,” he said. “All I was doing was living for the weekend.”

So Newman called Bob Burton, his old coach at West Valley.

“I’m ready to coach,” he said.

“Let me try to discourage you,” Burton replied, blinking.

Burton had nothing available. After a few calls, Newman found an assistant coach opening at Vanguard, in Costa Mesa. The coach, Steven French, told him he would be glad to bring him on for $1,500. per year.

Newman took it. he also had to get another job. So he latched on to an executive position at Shorecliffs Golf Course in San Clemente, cleaning out golf carts, getting the shop ready for sunrise, saying things like, “Smith foursome, you’re next.”

“I’d start that job at 6:30, then head on up to school at 9:30,” he said. “Then I’d come back in the afternoon and finish up.”

Burton then hired Newman at West Valley for $5,000 the next year, and the long, hungry journey reached an oasis when Burton resigned last week and CSF named Newman, Burton’s assistant and associate coach since 2004, to run a team that went 21-10 last year and returns D.J. Seeley and Kwame Vaughn, perhaps the best backcourt in the Big West.

Burton had six winning seasons out of nine at CSF. he went to an NCAA Tournament in 2008 and nearly made the NIT Final four in 2005. he took in a parade of disaffected Division I transfers who enjoyed Burton’s humor and unfettered offense.

But it ended mysteriously. The Titans lost in the Big West Tournament and were consigned to the CIT, a bootleg postseason tournament with no TV or palpable reward. The players initially balked, then lost, and Isaiah Umipig, the shooting guard, sat out. later he decided to transfer to Seattle.

It’s a little late in the game to be hiring basketball coaches, so Newman will get this season to form a beachhead.

“Coach Burton is the most influential male figure in my life,” Newman said. “When I started with him I didn’t know how to make a recruiting call. The first one, I’m on the phone and all I can think to say to the kid is ‘What’s up? So, what’s up?’ I was awful. it was just hilarious.

“But he showed me how to get past that, and a million other things. he taught me toughness, and how to get a player to get outside his comfort zone.

“I had one college interested in me when I got out of high school. When I left West Valley I had four to five offers.”

Newman left Chico State, a non-scholarship program then, because his parents were divorcing and “there was no more money left.” After West Valley he played for Southern Utah and averaged 36.1 minutes.

“I loved the coach, and we played a big-time schedule,” Newman said. “But when they recruited me they told me that it snowed sometimes, but it never stayed on the ground. on my visit I kept noticing the motto on the Utah license plates: ‘Greatest snow on earth.’ I thought, hmm, they got me on this one.”

Newman then wrapped it up at Azusa Pacific and went to an NAIA Final four, playing for the well-respected Bill Odell.

Now he sits in the type of office he could have had a dozen years ago. All he had to do was lose his weekends.
