Josh Hamilton’s fourth home run last Tuesday had not even landed yet before his contract status became a hot topic to fans and others in DFW. Hamilton arguably is the game’s greatest talent when he can keep his shit together and or if he can stay healthy and all that talent can become part of a free agent at years end. Based on his ability and the numbers he seems like hes on pace to out up this year, he would seem to be in line to become baseball’s next $200 million contract holder.

ALL of this of course, factors far beyond his talent must be considered. Im talking about his history of substance abuse and the inability to stay healthy for more than 80% of the season. seems to me he wont get any top coin like that from Texas. NO DOUBT

Hamilton claims he stopped using on Oct. 5, 2005, but he has had two KNOWN off-season slip ups this year and in 2009. Hes also had various injuries over the last few seasons.

Hamilton and the Rangers reportedly remain in negotiations, however contrary to popular belief though neither side seems in a hurry to reach an agreement. as intriguing as Hamilton’s future is, his present is even more worthy of ours and everyone’s attention. so far this year Hamilton already is off to a great start and has taken his performance to another level in the past week.

Mr Hamilton enters Sunday night’s game against the Angels with nine homers in his past six games. For the season, he has 18 homers, 41 RBIs and a .402/.457/.877 slash line.
